COLORADO DRAMATISTS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving playwrights and supporting theatre artists in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region.
Through our efforts, we plan to enlarge audiences for new works throughout the Rocky Mountain Region while supporting Colorado and regional playwrights throughout the writing and development process. Our membership averages over 100 actors, directors. playwrights and others interested in new works All members receive our newsletter and are eligible for readings of their plays. In addition, members receive free or discounted admission to our special events and workshops, as well as discounts at selected theaters.
Are you a "closet actor," or thinking about writing your next play? Whether you are a professional, beginner, or just interested in the process of creating live theatre, Colorado Dramatists can serve you.
Colorado Dramatists is inclusive and is the only organization in the region that seeks to provide the following services:
• Assistance in script development
• Support and education for local playwrights through seminars and workshops
• communication and marketing information network through our newsletter and website
• Opportunities for a large number of actors to hone their craft and influence theatre in a non-threatening environment.
NEWSLETTER: Our newsletter provides informative articles, ranging from script marketing to copyright protection, as well as profiles of Colorado writers and theatre personalities. It also features listings of new plays currently on stage in Colorado, contest information, and upcoming Colorado Dramatist events. It is provided in e-mail format, and will be mailed to those who do not have email and request a copy.
SPECIAL EVENTS: In the past, Colorado Dramatists has hosted various workshops and special events, featuring both locally and nationally known playwrights. We have participated in such community events as The Capitol Hill People's Fair, The Cherry Creek Arts Festival, and the Performing Arts Festival. We have also initiated our own special event, Colorado Dramatists Showcase Of New Plays (known as The Producers’Showcase), where five minute segments of several members' unproduced full length plays are presented as a showcase to producers, directors, and the public.
